Charities Services 2020/2021 Annual Review

We recently released the Charities Services 2020/2021 Annual Review.
This Annual Review goes into detail about the work we’ve done in the last year, including our engagement with the charitable sector and our goals for the upcoming year. It also showcases information about the sector.
Some highlights from the report:
- 1,496 new charities were registered in the last year
- Based on their last annual returns, charities spent $19.87 billion on their charitable purposes
- More than 217,000 volunteers contribute approximately 1.7 million hours every week to charities
- More than 145,000 people work full time in the charitable sector. This is equal to approximately 5% of the New Zealand workforce.
