Nepal earthquake donations

New Zealanders wanting to help people affected by the Nepal earthquake are encouraged to donate only to well-established registered charities that have the skills, experience and infrastructure necessary to  provide disaster-relief assistance.

You can use the Charities Register to find these charities and contact them directly to make a donation, using the details shown on the Register.

Donating only to registered charities that are experienced in disaster-relief can also protect you from becoming the victim of scammers, who are often prepared to take advantage of people’s generosity and willingness to help those in genuine need.

Minister for the Community and Voluntary Sector, the Hon. Jo Goodhew, has issued a news release (external link) with further information and advice for donors.
